Career

Corcoran who hails from Donabate in North County Dublin prospered at schoolboy and youth level in a successful Malahide United and also Belvedere team that won the FAI Under 17 challenge cup in 2007.[1] His performances at schoolboy level eventually earned Corcoran Republic of Ireland caps at both under 18 and under 19 level.[2] In the summer of 2007 Corcoran was signed by League of Ireland cup St. Patrick's Athletic and as part of Pats' under 21 squad he finished with a Dr. Tony O'Neill under 21 League runners-up medal.[3]

Corcoran moved to newly formed Sporting Fingal in January 2008 for their debut campaign in the First Division. He made his Sporting Fingal and League of Ireland debut on 8 March 2008 in a 5-1 defeat against Longford Town.[4] Corcoran was a regular figure in Fingal's debut season scoring 5 goals in 33 league and cup appearances. He remained with Sporting Fingal for the 2009 as Fingal became a full-time outfit. Opprtunities were difficult to come by for Corcoran in 2009 as he was competing with experienced big name players such as Éamon Zayed, Gary O'Neill and Robbie Doyle for limited places up front. He was restricted to 1 start and 7 substitute appearance during the season as Sporting Fingal won the FAI Cup and achieved promotion to the League of Ireland Premier Division via the play-offs. In order to further his development and achieve more regular first team football, Corcoran was loaned out by Sporting Fingal to Shelbourne for the Reds' 2010 First Division campaign.[5] Despite initiially struggling at Shelbourne, Corcoran came into form as the season progressed becoming Shelbourne's top goalscorer with 13 goals from 28 appearances in all competitions. He also won a Leinster Senior Cup medal with Shelbourne by scoring in the 4 – 0 victory over Bray Wanderers in the final.

Corcoran's contract with Sporting Fingal expired at the end of the 2010 season leaving him as a free agent. On 23 February 2011, Corcoran signed for Drogheda United. Corcoran finished the season as Drogheda's top scorer with seven league goals to his name, along with one in the FAI Cup. He scored the winner on the final day of the season against St. Patricks Athletic - a half-volley from thirty yards out.
